Pat was my 3rd grade art teacher at George Hall Elementary School. She had me working with clay. When my project was done, she asked me what it was. She told me it looked like a man sitting on a toilet! I never touched clay again. When we became friends through Mark and Vicki in 1975, I told her the story. We both laughed and laughed. A great woman.
Trish had a wonderful, sharp sense of humor and was generous and open minded. She was kind, hilarious, smart, formidable, and insightful--often in the same minute. I'm grateful for the way she welcomed my into her family and for all the times I was thoroughly entertained by her.
In high school, I loved it whenever Vicki would invite me over. Inevitably, Trish had some art project she was working on for some church bazaar and would enlist us to help. Actually, she just put us to work regardless of what we had planned to do. Nonetheless, I was in heaven. Ribbons of all colors and sizes, beads of pearl or gold or silver, felt, cottons, brocades, glitter. It didn’t end. I got to indulge in creating fantastic decorations to my heart’s content. Trish was brisk and no nonsense and she never coddled us as we were growing up, but there was no doubt she loved us all. I will miss her always-to-the-point advice about anything with a “Well, there you are.”
