1932 - 2020

  • 87 years old
  • Date of birth:  May 1st, 1932
  • Date of passing:  March 9th, 2020

On Monday, March 9, 2020, O.B. Michaelis left his earthly home in Talent, OR for his mansion in Heaven at the age of 87. He was a loving husband and father.

O.B. was born on May 1, 1932 in Toppenish, WA to George and Agnes Michaelis. He served in the Army as a Paratrooper in the 11th and the 101st Airborne during the Korean War. He graduated from San Francisco City College before returning to Klamath Falls. On June 1, 1957 he married Nancy Dexter in Reno, NV. They lived in Portland, Bend, Klamath Falls and Alaska – but his true home was overlooking the Rogue Valley of 50 years in Talent.

A man of many talents and trades he worked at a young age driving tractors and trucks in the potato fields in Malin. These skills lead to his job of truck driver. His tinkering led him to be able to build or make anything he ever needed or wanted to. If there was a problem-he had a solution. Whether it be building a shop or creating a wheelchair for his beloved dog before they were a thing.

O.B. graduated from Merritt Davis and started a successful career in computers. He was Operations Manager for Bear Creek Corp. in Medford and in 1981 moved to Alaska and became Operations Manager for the State of Alaska in Anchorage. He retired from the State of Alaska in 1987 and returned to his home in Oregon. While retired, he never stopped keeping busy. He had a moving business and worked into his 70’s with his family on Walmart and Home Depot stores doing electrical work. He loved his family and friends, traveling, woodworking, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, working on his Volkswagen, tractor and many other hobbies.

O.B. was preceded in death by his father, George and his mother, Agnes. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and his three children, Katharine Michaelis, Tim (Kathleen) Michaelis, and Stephen (Patty) Schuck; his grandchildren Anne Marie, Mary, Tim and Jeanne of Olympia and Thomas Schuck of San Francisco, a brother, Dean (Diane) Michaelis, Yelm, WA, and sister, Jane (Bob) Kaser, Salem, OR.  Service has been delayed until further notice due to Coronavirus.
