Dear Rita and David,

While it has been a number of years since I worked with Norm in the Anchorage School District, I have never forgotten his kindness, his humor and integrity, as well as the jar of M&M’s he kept on his desk.

I am sorry to hear of Norm's passing and wanted to let you know that I have thought about you fondly over the years.  Norm's obituary clearly demonstrated a zest for life, a love of sports, and a passion for education.  Our thoughts are with you during this time.  

My favorite memory of Norm is playing in a top-level, 3-day team game at the 2010 Bridge National in Reno. Norm was doubled over in pain from a bad GI infection. Teammate Walt was in his late 80's and teammate Ed had stayed up all night gambling. Norm was in agony, but he won our knockout with a spectacular defensive play. One of the finest card players ever! Then he went to the hospital
