I'm so sorry to hear of Mrs. Hahns' passing. I took high English and journalism with her at Narbonne High in Harbor City. She made learning fun. After I graduated, she took a sabbatical and we took a feature writing class together at Cal State Dominguez Hills. She was a hoot, and I'll always remember her fondly. Does anyone know if she was with her niece at the end?
Neva was a dear neighbor, who was always ready with a smile and infectious laughter. Her love was theater, and she performed in many productions on the Monterey Peninsula. Into her late 70s, she would take long walks, while memorizing lines. She later developed macular degeneration, but despite this hurdle, she continued to be upbeat. Don't know the circumstances of her death. Loved her
Oh my. I wasn't aware of her passing. Very simply, Neva changed my life. I went to work on the Washington High School newspaper, the Surveyor, in my senior year, originally just as a cartoonist. In Neva fashion she said "Listen bub. You need to write." And I did. She nurtured me, and shaped my future writing career. Bless her sweet soul. Such a caring and funny teacher.
