Mat was one of my fondest memories of my time at Paine Estate, where I spent a year, 2023-24.  He was also the first person I met there after Martha and I arrived on 31 December 2023.  We were both German speakers, both USAF veterans though he flew in combat in WW II and because I was seven years younger, I did not. We eacj had a great interest in boats and ships. I will miss him.
