I met Mary Monica when my family moved to Richmond in 1966. We had a lot in common. She was from a family of 6 kids as was I, and both our fathers were transferred to Richmond, VA our senior year of high school. We both went to Cathedral and bonded that year. We have been in touch over the years, but not enough. I am very sorry for her family's loss. I know she will be missed.
I worked with Mary at the University of Richmond at several different times — once in the mailroom of the Education department during one of the many times the Governor's School offices were relocated on campus! She always asked about my family and genuinely cared for our family's well-being. She was kind-hearted and gentle with students, faculty and staff alike, and she will be missed.
