Lynn started teaching my son piano in March 2020. He and she had a lovely relationship from the start, even over zoom, even after she had to type her comments over zoom. She would drop off music on our doorstep and we called her the phantom. Her teaching changed my sons life as she helped discover a hidden talent and passion that has led to his playing beautifully, thanks to her.
Lynn Was the Musical Director for Saint John Vianney Catholic Church here in Walnut Creek which was our family Parish she played great Music and attended our House Parties...We will miss her...Al & Ester Borvice
Lynn was a member of our professional association, Contra Costa Music Teacher's Association. She has been an active member since 2009. She was known as an enthusiastic and passionate music teacher. Our association and her students will miss her.
Lynn was a wonderful member of Diablo Choral Artists for many years. Her sterling musicianship and dedication to fine performances were major contributions to our choir. We will sorely miss her.
Ms. Finegan was indeed dedication personified, never missed a class. She would be at our doorstep at night dropping books - working behind the scenes. It was amazing to see her smooth transition to online lessons. What we did not see was her deterioration. We never gauged that she would leave us so soon. She took lessons through her illness and handed us over to another great teacher. RIP.
We were saddened to hear of Lynn's passing. Lynn had taught our son for several years during the summer to keep him on track for his yearly exams. She was a very talented piano player with a gentle and patient personality. It was clear to us that she had a gift for teaching as she helped our son improve technically. We enjoyed reading everyone's tribute and especially loved the story of her adventure hiking with her sister. Lynn clearly lived life to the fullest. We will miss her.
Lynn started teaching my son, Shane when he was just 4 years old (2016). I have fond memories of the two of them dancing around the living room. She believed it was important to feel the rhythm and music. Shane was reading music before reading books and I credit Lynn for his love of reading. She had amazing spirit even through her illness. She will be very missed and so fondly remembered.
Lynne was a class act. She was indispensable to our choir at St.Stephen’s Church in Orinda. She organised the best choir retreat that I have ever experienced. Her sunny smile and can do attitude were so encouraging.. The last time I saw her I did not recognize her. She had no idea at the time what was wrong with her. Hope she’s making beautiful music with the other angels. Rest In Peace.
Lynn and I were classmates at JFKU in pleasant hill in the MA program for Organizational Psychology. Lynn was so bright and so amazing in our facilitation class. She really did such a wonderful job in the class and as a friend. She amazed me and I’m so sorry she is gone. I got a message to see her and was shocked to see her so debilitated. I will miss her friendly ways. RIP
Lynn's curiosity was boundless. We had long and lively discussions. In my realm: DNA and biochemistry; other sciences; singing (views of authorities on vocal technique; what works for me). She asked insightful questions. She enlightened me about music theory, Mahler's symphonies, Persian culture and food, ballet, impressionist painting, and more. I miss her companionship.
