Lydia walked into my life years ago standing next to my brother. The two of them created a family beyond all odds that expanded our family across the country.   Lydia made me realize that it’s not what we have in life but who we have in our lives that matters.
Love you.  Your brother in law, Jeff Mackovitch

We were saddened to hear of auntie Lyd's passing and I send my deepest regards. She was truly a caring person that always wore a smile on her face whenever I saw her. Our wonderful auntie will be missed greatly but not forgotten and I hope everyone is doing okay as we keep them in our thoughts. Love from your nephew, Zachary Mackovitch

I stood at the edge of a cliff once, no rail, looking "one mile" straight down. Lydia was the 'only' one crazy enough to stand there with me. I loved our backgammon matches, as well as all the other game time we shared as a family. A great mom, wife, sister-in-law and friend. We will all miss your warm hugs, smile, and that infectious laugh. Peace pretty lady, All my love, Robb Mackovitch

Lydia was one of the best teachers I've ever had. She was mentor to me and other members of our breast cancer support group. She taught us to have hope in the face of this devastating disease, how to advocate for ourselves and how to deal with the treatment roller coaster. I take solace thinking of Lydia now sitting on a Morton Arboretum bench, watching her beloved kids play, Kate Chesley

My heart is breaking and I am so sorry for this loss! Lyd, I am going to miss cooking for you our special dish, playing games, giggling in the kitchen, sharing stories, hanging by the pool, your warm hugs & that beautiful smile. Lydia was one of the most honest people I know. She loved her family with her whole heart & loved to make people laugh with her wit. I love you lady and miss you!

I will miss our summer visits together, walking, talking, and reminiscing about our many childhood memories.
Lydia was a very strong, intelligent, positive women. When we were together we always had at least one belly laugh together.
Love you Lydia and miss you!

Lydia was one of the most courageous and optimistic people I ever met.  She was a great listener and supporter of all of us in her breast cancer support group, and always willing to give advice, even as late as one week prior to her passing.  Lydia, you left us much too soon, but your courageous spirit and heart-felt advice live on with all of us.  Rest in peace.

Lydia and I met 9 years ago. We both had kids in kindergarten and we shared lunch duty together in the kinder yard. When Annika was a baby, I had the wonderful joy of babysitting her during Lydia’s aiding shifts. I always wondered how Lydia had such a matter of fact attitude towards her continued health battles yet she was always smiling and positive. I’m so blessed to have known her.

My siblings and I would always spend time with her and play games when she came to visit the Midwest over summer and winter break. She called it our "family torture time", but it was anything but that. I loved every moment I got to spend with Aunt Lydia. She was always smiling and I loved hearing her laugh. She will be missed and I won't forget the great times we had. Your Nephew, Skyler
