This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Luther Smith, 86, born on August 4th, 1933 and passed away on September 27th, 2019. We will remember him forever.
Smitty's service will be held on Friday, November 15th, at 1:30 p.m. at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
Dear Family: Uncle Lavern was very loved. I loved to hear the stories he and my Dad shared when though they were told every visit. I loved going to the cemeteries with him and learning family history. Love you all. Rest easy Uncle Laverne! Love you! Until we meet again.
I will never listen to Johnny Cash, watch LSU football, or sing The Old Rugged Cross without memories of you flooding back. Grateful that you are free from suffering, but the hole you left in my heart will never be filled. Some day we will be together again, until then, fly high Daddy!
Dad (Bob Mitchell) first met Smitty in 1983, and they became friends often meeting for lunch, or stayed in touch by phone, for over 35 years. They talked about football, families, growing up in the south and all the joys and trials of life. Smitty was one of dad’s closest friends. Dad has always thought of Smitty as a very caring and kind-hearted person. He is missed.
