At the end of his Poem “No Man is an Island” John Donne wrote: ‘And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.”
Lou’s funeral is going at this moment and in my mind I can hear the church bells tolling. Lou’s death has diminished me and I know that the bell tolls for me as much as it does for him. Lou was very proud of having served in the Marine Corps, so I was happy to learn that his burial would be with military honors. I just played Taps on my computer in honor of a fellow veteran and very close friend. May he rest in peace. And may his friends and loved ones accept our sincere condolences.
