Jenny and Luke and family,
Your dad was a man of sterling character—my folks held both he &your mom in such high regard. They worked hand in hand following the 64 Earthquake to rebuild Anchorage. Later they were neighbors across the cove at Campbell Lake. Of course, being fellow North Dakotans was great!
A great Alaskan pioneer! We met when I was the young Real Estate Officer at the ARRC. Lew was a Director who took me under his wing, supported and guided me in the tasks at hand. We negotiated the difficult Lease Holder’s Lawsuit together and developed the Leasing Practices at the ARRC that exist today. He was a Mentor and true friend
Greatest fishing adventure of my life was with Lew and Luke. We flew up the Talkeetna River to a gold miner in 1979. We got stuck across the river as a rain storm made it unfordable after we had crossed. We hike up to the ridgeline, spent the night under the stars and then hiked up the drainage the next day, only to come down to what was BARELY fordable at the miner's operation. Rick.
