I believe my father, Sam Luedy, was a great influence in Lee's life. I remember the many hours Lee would visit our house and talk to my Dad, who was a teacher first at the Duffy one-room school and then later a teacher and principal at Hannibal Elementary. He would be very proud of all Lee's accomplishments! Thoughts and prayers for the family. Kay (Luedy) Curtis
Lee was my cousin....his father and my grandfather Leap were half brothers....My sister and I have very fond memories from our childhood from visiting the farm and playing with Lee and Lynn. So sorry to hear of his passing. Sending prayers to all
Tears....I was his last student. I have my lip scrips from him. We loved each other dearly. I spoke to him when he was on his last visit to the hospital. And when he got out. I have a lot to say but, my heart hurts. All I can say is.... I was his last. I moved on to a country with my lip scrips. I will be continuing him there. Tears.....
Just looked Lee up online I was listening to the album “Say Amen Somebody”...I saw it several times with Lee
My ex,me &Lee spent pretty much every single Saturday night (80’s)haunting the Cambridge/Boston nightlife coffeehouses movies dinners blues clubs -hanging out together til the wee hours...so many wonderful memories!
Thank-you Lee! You were exceptional &you are remembered!
Professor Lee was an amazing, warm, life-affirming teacher/human. Was grateful that I not only took his Spanish class, but also was able to go with that class and Lee on an unforgettable trip to the Dominican Republic (resulted in a documentary and an adoption...). Also fell in love with his Quinta-lingua course. Much love to Jessa and all who knew him. He spread love and light.
Lee Reithmiller taught a course at the Central Square YMCA. I remember him standing at the classroom door singing "Japanese go out, Spanish come in..." On that DR trip I met a shoeshine boy (limpiabota) who became the subject of my documentary film, "From Santo Domingo With Love." That boy is now a successful businessman in the Boston area. To quote Laurie, "He spread love and light."
