Grandma Katie,
You are so loved and will be greatly missed.
Kiss Grandpa for me.

Mrs. Gilson…A wonderful, little Japanese powerhouse of a woman. She came to a country that could not be more foreign to her. She endured and flourished. Raising a family and the neighbor kid (me), taking me in any time. She was the reason my parents agreed to letting me be a brownie and girl scout and introducing me to Job’s Daughters. Whenever my parents needed a babysitter Mrs. Gilson would let me stay at their house….one more kid. I refer to Mrs. Gilson by the name Mrs. Gilson, one out of respect, but two because honestly that is the only way I knew her….it was only when she talked Frances into getting a cell phone that I learned Mrs. Gilson’s first name! She will always be “Mrs. Gilson”.
one thing I will always remember is that Mrs. Gilson represents a second mom to me. Someone that took care of me in my childhood. Someone that welcomed me in my adulthood. Someone that I love. My heart is breaking. I will miss you Mrs. Gilson. May you rest in peace.
Love,
Linda
