I am heartbroken to learn of Katharine's passing and send the family and friends my deepest sympathies. Katharine's light shone on all were lucky enough to know her. Working with Katharine for 15 years, I was inspired by her endless positivity, unparalleled energy, love of life and capacity for caring. I carry her spirit in my heart and am blessed to have had her as a mentor & friend.
The world lost a bright light in Katharine; my heart goes out to her family, friends and colleagues who were privileged to have been warmed by her brilliant presence. Katharine was a paragon of grit, energy and effectiveness, and someone who admirably balanced intuition, compassion, humor and intelligence with an intense sense of commitment to her work, friends and family.
Katharine and I worked together this past year as she prepared to leave the Insititute for Health and Recovery. Her life force was and still is palpable. I felt so honored to get to know her and knew she was so excited to spend time with Ed and go on their adventures. She has left this earth too quickly. I am holding her loved ones in my prayers as grief is great-in communion and love.
I'm blessed to have met Kathy in elementary school where we became fast friends. She inspired me with her ability to speak her mind with such diplomacy. She was a trustworthy friend - kept secrets, gave advice, and made me laugh. She was steady as a rock, but also whimsical. It seemed there was nothing she couldn't do and that remained true her whole life. 4ever in my heart
I met Katherine when I came to The Group School in 1971, where she was one of the 'founders.' From our very first interactions, I knew Kathy was an exceptionally mature and grounded woman--even as a teenager. She was warm and wise and there was always a special light in her eyes. I send my sincere condolences to her entire family and community.
At 17, Kathy pulled off the amazing feat with a group of friends of starting an alternative high school. Her intelligence, warmth, wit, and enthusiasm contributed mightily to that community. When I saw her occasionally in the years since I marveled at how brilliantly she was applying those qualities to being an effective advocate. My heart goes out to her family and community.
I met Katherine through my significant other Nydia Valentin, ....she was outgoing, warm and kind hearted, she was always supportive of Nydia concerning her role as a peer mentor/ Recovery Coach @ IHR. . although my personal interaction was brief... She left a lasting memory....I would like to reach out and express my sincerest condolences to her family and friends ????
