This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Karl Svensson, 85, born on August 22nd, 1935 and passed away on May 8th, 2021. Please contribute your memories and photographs in celebration of a wonderful life well-lived.
Uncle Karl (affectionately known as "UK") was like a second father to me at times, and like an older brother at other times. His influence on me was profound and helped shape me into the man I have become, although I cannot be more specific about which attributes were so influential. So glad he is now with Auntie Pat..
I was fortunate to have worked at Farrel Ltd when Karl was the Managing Director. As a young Salesman I benefited from many of Karl’s insights and one or two of his telling off’s. Later managing Purchasing I truly learned what Karl had done for our company. Karl established a supply chain of which we still benefit. His work was decades ahead of his time & still used today.
When I met Karl in his 1988 at Farrel in Derby Ct. seeing him climb up a F620 (large piece of manufacturing equipment) and be introduced as VP of Operations I said this guy is Ok! He was enthusiastic and energetic not your standard Senior Manager. Karl would stick up for you as well as tell you when you’re a bit out of line without mincing words. He was my mentor, he will be missed by all
I met Karl in Taiwan in 1985 when he came to Asia for sourcing suppliers for Bird Machine. I was fortunately to be chosen as one of his vendors in Asia.
We are a group of small companies working together for supplying machine parts to both Bird Machine and Farrel that Karl had worked for. He came to visit us quite often in the beginning to help us make good parts.
Though he was a strict person on the job, all of our people still love this guy very much. He is tough but fair. In addition to the job, he is a very friendly and considerate person to everyone. He offered us good job opportunities in the past 35 years. We all appreciate his great help and kindness very much.
Karl is also my mentor. I deeply cherished the long term partnership and friendship with him. I will always miss my elder brother. All of his friends here will miss him too. I trust the God and Buddha will take care of both Pat and Karl in the heavens.
I met Karl over 10 years ago when I started dating his nephew Bob. He was always so nice to me. We spent many holidays together since then and took a family trip to the Carolinas. Karl was also a “spirited” driver just like Bob. I am glad he is with his lovely wife Pat who he adored. Rest In Peace Karl.
All of a sudden this "bear paw size hand" was coming at me on my 1st day of work at Farrel in 1988- ---a little intimidating !!! Karl was a task master but fair- always trying to improve processes. He told me Production Control people should be able to "tear down walls" just by persistence and I've carried that with me all these years..He also had a huge heart and will be missed RIP KNS
Uncle Karl was a great Great Uncle. Being around him was always a good time and his love for his family was always apparent. He had such a great sense of humor and always brought a smile to those around him. He will be greatly missed. I am so happy that he and AP have now been reunited.
Karl....you have had such a positive influence on my life I shutter to think what it would have been like if our paths never crossed. I will love you for as long as my forever will last.
You know that nobody could ever replace you, UK. You taught me what it meant to be a family. I will forever be there at a moments notice to hop into your hospital bed, untangle your wires and tubes with a good old bag of M&Ms. I would do it every day if I could. You are both irreplaceable to so many of us. The true definition of a not only a Marine, but an angel and so very loved. <3 Liz
Karl N. Svensson was my boss, my mentor, my friend and one of my heroes.
He was a truly remarkable man, devoted to his beautiful wife Pat and special in so many ways.
He’s the only man I’ve ever known to smoke a Cuban cigar at 7am and when my son was born he simply said “get yourself to the hospital Pete”
