A gifted artist, I called him "My amazing cousin," as that's who he was to me. He SAW me. I didn't have to use  disqualifiers or explain or defend aspects of my personality to him. He had great empathy and understanding--was generous and sweet. The world lost a monumental talent and a kind, generous man. My amazing cousin, Josh, my friend.
