Jon was a brilliant, uniquely talented film maker. What a team he and Charlotte were, and what fun to work with! I am sorry to hear of his death but sure he'll be long remembered.

As a neighbor, I knew Jon as a lover of dogs. He would appear at the end of his driveway in the early morning light with his dog. A very nice person and I will miss seeing him and his 4 legged friend.

Jon was truly one of the kindest and most gifted individuals we knew. He constantly gave of himself, and his artistic gifts will never be forgotten. We have lost a dear friend and our love and sympathy goes out to Charlotte. Their marriage was very special and our friendship with them is something we will always cherish.  Chris & Paal Klykken

Oh Charlotte, Patti and I just found out about Tom.  VCU will always live in our hearts and you guys are such a big part of it. He brought so much light into this world we will miss him. I remember how excited he was when he bought the Hasselblad camera.  I remember him trying to explain to me why it was so nice and me saying “but Tom, you have to look down into the view finder!”.  He said “Right, that’s one of the things that make it so nice”.  The picture of us by the Land rover was taken the day we left Richmond for Florida.  Love to you.  Cotton & Patti Smith
