John you have been my friend since 1965 and you wanted to marry my next door neighbor when you returned from Vietnam, so we have some history. We lost contact for many years and then I found you on Facebook about 4 years ago and since then you would call me at least 5 or 6 times a week and I always looked forward to our short conversations and then the calls just stopped.
i could really use one of your corny jokes right about now.i know when you did not call me something had happened. I feared that this might be the reason.
john you were one last of the old crew, you had style , honor, morals and guts forever. I was honored to be your friend for so long. I am glad i have your turtle art.
if There is a memorial for john may i please be informed
i would be so greteful

I didn't know for sure he was dead. I have passed the watch he traded me for an aquarium on to a friend of mine. I didn't know it, and neither did Johh, but it was a Capt. Willard watch. The damn thing was valuable.John Gave it to me in 1971 when we lived together in Newport Beach. I went to visit him once in Santa Rosa. Hadn't seen him since.I wonder who got his records.
The year we lived in Newport Beach, Dave, John, and I had all just come home from Nam and we needed a lot of R&R and we got it. We smoked bales of Marijuana, drank barrels of Spinada, and loved the beach. John worked with Dave at Frank Rice's sail loft. His favorite password was "Swordfish" which the three stooges had.We cooked loady food for dinner, our invention, was great. He had a
girl friend Susie.. could not stand up on a surf board more than two seconds, He was like a brother to me. Jackie, A, he loved you always. He moved in when we threw Dave Perrin out.. put his crap in his Falcon station wagon and it rained that night. We loved it. I think of John and I laugh. If I'm going to share a story, how do I do that.. ??? doesn't say, and I have stories about John
Hey.. how do you share a story.. you don't say.. there was this hippy gal named Little Fox.. and Cindy Hall, and Dave's girl friend Barbara, Mike Mason the guitar player, Nanny, Rue, the Armstrongs, 3 of them, Lyle, the flash bulbs, and cruisers... we had some good times.
