I met John in his tai chi teacher Dale Strawhacker’s backyard. We met occasionally for several years to play tai chi push hands and to shoot the breeze. John was a dedicated tai chi aficionado. He contacted me during his final days and spoke openly about his peace with his impending demise. Fond memories of a fine man.

I was a student of John Doane's in the early 70's. He made learning a foriegn language fun and interesting.  He was a great teacher. He also helped a very mixed up girl make it through her teen years with his caring personality and listening.  He made me feel valuable as a person.  Thank you forever John.
