This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, John Gentili. We will remember him forever.
We lost a great man Sunday. I am so thankful that I had him for 35 years. Whether that was swinging from his arm as we walked to elementary school or driving to Jr High and hearing him say “be kind to everyone”. I thought about him every day. He was an educator, a dad, a husband, a grandfather. He got me my first gym membership at 12 years old so I could work out with him. He loved history and Boston sports. He would wish for the Red Sox to win the pennant as he said grace on Thanksgiving. I’m so glad I got to be around him as much as I did. Thank you for everything Dad. I love you.
Lost an incredible man. My dad loved to lead by example. He taught so many people about the importance of good character and hard work. But the goal is not to live forever. The goal is to leave behind something that will.
You were the love of my life. Thank you for giving me our amazing children and grandchildren.
I miss you terribly, but I'm trying to go on for them.
John lived a remarkable life. One of dedication and deep love for both his students and his family. The impact he had as a teacher/mentor will continue to be felt throughout the many lives he shaped, including mine. Most of all, he cherished his family, and that legacy will live on with them. Thank you, Uncle John, for the example you set and the life you lived. You will be dearly missed!
John was a wonderful gentleman.
He and my brother (Henry) were friends since elementary school in Watertown, Ma.
We always enjoyed his visits to Watertown.
My sympathy to you and the Gentili family.
RIP John---
To the family of Mr G,
I had the pleasure of being a student of Mr.G´s at Maryvale class of 86. I always enjoyed history especially American History, but because of Mr.G´s history lessons I fell in love with history. I pray for the family at this difficult time and Mr G rest in peace fellow Red Sox fan.
Mr. Gentili has and always has been a favorite teacher of mine. I had him for American history at Maryvale HS. Having grown up outside the United States, but born a US citizen, Mr. Gentili helped me understand United States history. I am grateful to him for the pride instilled in me as an American. My condolences to the Gentili family.
Mr. Gentili was one of my favorite teachers at Maryvale High School. His teaching style was dynamic and engaging. His love for history inspired me to pursue a degree in history and in education. I was honored to have him write my Letter of Recommendation for the three Universities I applied to. I´m forever grateful for his support and his dedication to his craft. I´m glad that I was able to reconnect with him through social media. Rest in Peace - I hope the angels in heaven enjoy your Mussolini impression as much as I did.
John's kindness and gentle nature with everyone he met, but most importantly, with his wife and children, left a lasting impression on me. He was the kind of man other men should aspire to be. The world has lost someone very special who will not soon be forgotten. My love to you all during this challenging transition.
