I will miss your wonderful words and laughter. You have been a wonderful brother . I will be so happy to see you again with all the family. I promise to keep going, no matter what, with joy. I love you

I do have one strong memory of John (whom you call Jack, and whom we called Ivan, pronounced ee VON...he was going through a flirtation with the Russian Orthodox faith at the time.) Where we lived in Honduras in the late sixties there were a number of local children who loved to follow us exotic gringos around...there was no school, so we were school of a sort. One young fellow, Adolfo, a 12 year old, had a bad heart that could have been fixed if he weren't poor, died of his ailment. John went immediately to the aid of the family, helped them decorate his coffin, commiserating, sharing shots of the local firewater, "guaro" with the men (it was rude to refuse.) He was intimately involved in the funeral and the burial. In my heart I believe this incident was a foreshadowing of his much later vocation. He was a helper...a really good soul.
Dear Jack, I miss you so much, my brother, my friend. There are more with you now. I love you very much. Your sister, Dinah Gail
