I owe my life to this great mans work. I remember as a small child sitting in his office with my mother as he would always offer kinds words of encouragement and hope. I am now 40 and have 6 kids of my own. None of which would have been possible without Johns dedication and work with GSD
I think the world trembled at his loss. As a young mother of children with a liver disease, Dr.Crigler made me feel like I was strong enough to meet the challenges before me. He was an imposing figure who was truly a gentle giant. His dedication to medicine improved the lives of countless children and he passed the torch to others who continue the work. Thank you, Dr. Crigler!
As a patient born in the 1970s with GSD 1A, Dr. Crigler was my first GSD hero. Because of his years of dedication and care of those living with this rare disease, I am living a normal life in my 40s and able to share it with my own 13 yo daughter. I am forever grateful to him for his care and for pioneering the way for his successors who have made tremendous strides in this disease based on the foundation he built.
I first met Dr. Crigler when I was an 8 year old boy at Childrens. I had just had a brain tumor removed. He was an excellent doctor, very thorough and dedicated. Although there were many unknowns, he gave use the strength and encouragement to keep moving forward. Today, I am 57 and have three wonderful children. Thank you Dr. Crigler for so many wonderful years of life. God Bless you!
