Suzanne and I both worked with John when we all worked at Intel, Santa Clara, in the 1980’s, though I had known John at Motorola years before in Texas. Some years after Intel, our paths crossed again at WaferScale, and again when John served on the Board at Clear Logic. He was such a distinctive individual – excellent manager, good to work with, widely admired among our peers. He had a quietness to his style, a real gentleman. As others have said, he was the best boss I ever had. We were lucky enough to reconnect with him and Barb in the last 20 years or so, and enjoyed knowing the retired John Ekiss! He still had that low, baritone chuckle! We will certainly miss knowing him and will not soon forget that special person. Don and Suzanne Knowlton
I worked for John at Intel in Arizona, he was my management mentor. I owe so much to him. Bonnie and I still remember how he lent me his brand new Mercedes so I could drive to the hospital for the birth of my son and our morning workouts at 24 hour fitness followed by breakfast at Jack in the Box. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
