Miss McCawley was special.  She went through the Shady Hill apprenticeship program while I was there, and then moved to Milton Academy when I was a student there.  She would always show up at our M.A. reunions, and while her job was primarily at the girls school at Milton, she was a regular at rehearsals and events where both schools got together, like the Festival Chorus at Symphony Hall.
