Jim Raybourn
I loved and thought of him often.
A good man, a father figure to everyone in my generation that had the privilege to cross paths with him. On serious matters he would give good sound advice and steer you in directions without you even realizing it. He was forever the teacher, thank you for that Judy, behind every great man. On the other hand, that advise, if it wasn't serious, watch out! It could be a little skewed. A great set up for a practical joke, and guaranteed he wasn't going to be the butt end of it.
I think all of us remember the many great moments standing around when Jim was at the barbecue. With drink in one hand, utensil in the other hand (most times just the fingers) it was guaranteed you were in for an experience you would not soon forget! The food, conversation and jokes, awesome!
Some great times in my life were spent with that man, sitting in the shop listening to a game, helping on a project he was working on. I think for me, just sitting with him in the family room watching TV saying nothing was good. There was that feeling of warmth, security and peace.
I have and will missed Jims physical presents. He is a man that makes you understand what larger than life really means.
He was a great family man and friend. I had the honor of being both.

Sad to hear about Jim's passing. He was my woodshop teacher from 86-89'. My senior year he helped me build 6 grandfather clocks. Plans, who needed plans? Lol The plans were in Jim's head. He would tell me what to do. I would doubt him and he would say "you snook, just trust me, that's why I'm the teacher". His stories were great and his knowledge was absorbed everyday. He will be missed but will not be forgotten.

I had the honor of being Jim's caregiver for the last 10 months of his life. I learned what an amazing man he was prior to his sickness. I had the pleasure of meeting many of his family members. Judy, I'm so sorry that Jim had to leave this world. You were the most loving, caring, compassionate, and supportive wife. He was very fortunate to have you. During those months I took care of Jim, I became attached. I knew a different side of him. He spoke to me with his eyes. Some days were better than others, but he always knew when I was there. I will miss him greatly. He was a very special man. I will treasure the good memories forever in my heart. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

Hi Judy and family,

Just received the sad news of Jim's passing. I am so sorry for your loss and know that Jim is in a really good place because he was a princ of a guy.

I have many wonderful memories of the times that Fred and I spent with Jim and you over the years we lived and worked together in Livermore. One especially funny one was when we were on the cruise in 1984 and we were all in your cabin to have a cocktail. Jim had his ingrediants in his travel liquior carrier and he forgot or lost the key so he couldn't open it. Needless to say, we didn't get our drink so we
went to the bar and had a good time. He took a lot of ribbing about that but
enjoyed it.

Fond memories of all the wonderful food he cooked for bar-b-ques, Christmas parties, retiement parties, Halloween paties etc. He and you were truly gracious host and hostess. Thank you so much.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time of sadness.

Love.
