In honor and in memory of Dr. James Schroeder, we have planted a tree which will long outlive all of us and be a tribute to his philosophy of taking care of people and the planet. Condolences to his family and to the great people at the dental practice office. While we do not know where the tree will be planted, we're sure it would be okay with him.
Jim and I were best friends hanging out all through grade school. Even when Jim went to Taft High School (where with his well known leadership skills, he was the captain of the football team) and I went to Lane Tech HS, we remained good friends and still hung out together. Jimmy (as we know him) was a great guy, fun sense of humor, and yet became also very spiritual personally. RIP Jimmy
I am saddened to hear of Dr. Schroeder’s sickness and passing. I worked for Dr. Schroeder in the late 70’s as a COE student in high school. Dr. Schroeder was an excellent teacher, leader, mentor, and friend. I remember his deep love for the LORD, his precious wife, Jan, and children. “Remember that I am the God of hope…I will receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”
Having know him since grade school and high school in Chicago, I'll always think of him as "Jimmy" Schroeder. I could say he was a class act, but for Jim, it was no act. Kind, generous, intelligent, he will be missed.
My deepest sympathy to the whole family on your tremendous loss. I got to know Jim when I taught Emily in 6th grade. He was a one-of-a-kind man, and all the wonderful things that have been written and said about him are 100% correct. Helping others was the theme of his life, and no one showed true Christian love like Jim. We know he continues to watch over us always. RIP, Jim.
