  • Place of passing:  Reading, Massachusetts

This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, James Wyse, 61, born on May 30th, 1961 and who passed away unexpectedly in his home on November 8th, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Wyse, Jr, and his father, Richard Wyse. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Carrie Joanna (Tatlock) Wyse, and his beloved daughter Kaera Victoria Wyse. He is also survived by his loving mother Victoria Zdanowicz Patry, his Aunt Carolyn Zdanowicz, sister Carolyn (Donald) Robinson, and brothers Joseph (Erin) Wyse, and Paul (Francois Germain) Wyse,  and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

After graduating from the University of Maine, Jim worked as a mechanical engineer for more than 20 years at Vicor Corp,  and was drawn into the world of web design in the early 2000s. A creative and talented web designer, Jim had worked as a developer for Solspace since 2010.  He served as the Director of Web Services at UMass Boston for the past 16 years. He was highly regarded for his leadership and compassionate commitment to his staff.

Jim was man of many and varied hobbies. He built rockets, and raced model gas engine cars; flew drones and the radio controlled aircraft that he built himself. A talented, classically trained musician, Jim played often for family and friends; and played professionally in many varied venues over the years, often accompanying  talented vocalists. Always the engineer, he constructed several unique guitars, and refurbished others. Jim was also a longtime softball enthusiast; he  coached his daughter throughout her middle school and high school years, joyfully following her college softball pitching career, and then moving on to coach recreational softball.

He will be missed.
