Garland was a much loved and critical part of Olin College. He helped create the senior capstone project, helped found the robotics group and co-taught more robotics students than we can count.
Garland strength, humor, insight and advice will be greatly missed by all of the lucky people who got to work with him here at Olin.
I only knew Garland for a short time; the first time I met him was when he volunteered to help out our robotics research team over the summer at Olin.
He was always outspoken about what he believed to be right, and he never failed to help us when we were in need. He will be- and is- missed.
Gar and I grew up together in Litchfield, CT. We became great friends at about age 10 and remained that way all thru high school. He was a great person. Today is the 6th anniversary of his passing and now I know why "something" has been bothering me all day. Amazing the way the human mind works! RIP Gar.
