To Jim’s family:
I have been a friend of Jim’s now since 1984. I only discovered about his passing tonite. His obituary was right on, I thought. Although I’m sad he has left us I rejoice in his zest for life and his contributions as a teacher who cared. I’m only sorry to miss his celebration among his friends /family. I was googling the name of some of my favorite teachers, to complete a few details in my life history, and came across Mr. McCavitt Memorial. I was one of Mr. McCavitt students during the 60's. He made a great impression one me as my 4th grade teacher. I remember Mr. McCavitt's positive attitude and how much I enjoyed our social studies lessons. His love of learning was a great gift.
