The likes of Jim Nichols do not come often, indeed, they are ever more rare. He might almost seem as of another era, when people took time to care about each other, when the enjoyment of life was paramount, when eccentricity was a delight to be celebrated. We knew him in Kalamazoo, where his eccentricity lit the darkness, and visited him in Carmel, which seemed to suit him more perfectly.
Jim and I were friends for almost 50 years. He was a wonderful friend to me so when he passed I wanted to write about him and share what I learned from his friendship. I posted this to my blog back in May and hope I did him justice. http://www.rosythereviewer.com/2016/05/what-is-true-friend.html
