I taught with Hugh at The Glasgow Academy in the 1960's, He was a most cordial colleague and particularly encouraging to me given that I was in my first year at the school. He was in charge of the Shooting Team in the school cadet unit and trained me as his successor in this role. His colleagues were very sad whrn he and his wife Elise made the decision to emigrate to Canada.
