I worked with Howard at Scudder, where he became a mentor and advisor to me. I will remember him as a warm advisor that provided sage advice on my career and I valued his friendship. We drifted apart through the years, but every time we connected, I felt that the time missed slipped away and we could connect on work, baseball and life - easily. There was no pretense to the man.
