I had the immense privilege of knowing Herb as a glider pilot in Franconia NH.   I spent many days with Herb at the airfield talking about flying, life and children.  He was a great friend, supporter of the flying club and fellow member of the Franconia Soaring Association Board.  We are poorer without Herb being with us.   Wherever he is now, II hope he is enjoying the soaring!
