I worked at Juvenile Justice Center. That’s where I met Grant White the teacher. He was a funny and lovable person. He made the kids and staff laugh all the time. Grant would supply the coffee in my unit and he would come and get coffee twice a day, Mon-Fri. This is a really sad day. I’m so sorry to hear about his passing. My condolences to the White family.
Grant would light up the room in a class at Juvenile Hall if he walked in. All the young men wanted to talk with him and update him on their lives. He was also a great union supporter, having served as a grievance officer for the Alameda County Teachers Association/CTA/NEA at Juvenile Hall. I had the opportunity to commute with him --he could cheer you up on a bad day with a joke. RIP
