To the Fields family ,
Years ago , as new ham , a friend of mine ,  suggested that I go to , 3938 , and introduce myself . We'll , little did I know , that I would meet a small frame man , with such a big heart , and one who gave so much , to so many people .  Glen was smart , witty , and sometime , he could be the Master Chief . Love and miss you Glen

I deepest condolences for your entire family. I knew Glen from talking  with him both on the air and also meeting him at various hamfest over the years. He helped scores of hams and his wonderful humour was everlasting. Glen was truly one of the "good guys".  When the Lord made him they threw away the mold. I will always remember him and it was a privilege to call him my friend.

Years ago I was diagnosed with a serious health problem that had me in bed for quite a while. I had a ham license and a radio by my bed. I tuned across Glenn, The Rev, Chris and others on 3938. Glenn changed the way I was thinking about myself and helped me push through. He kept saying" don't feel sorry for yourself. Get off your butt and do something." As he did till the end. My friend

Jr KO4OO so sad to hear about are friend Glen passing. I know he lived a long happy life but it still seems too soon. I've known Glen since back in the 3898 days. I am 51 years old now. He always felt like a father figure mentor educator and advisor to me through the years. I have bought ham gear from Glen traded ham gear with  Glen. Love to hear his jokes one liners his stories especially

Lew, N4CO - I'll sure miss Glen, as we have been friends since about 1978. Glen and I traded equipment over the years as well as enjoyed conversations on ham radio and various hamfests over many years. Who will now bring ham biscuits, pies and Glen's FAMOUS peanuts with chocolate licked off to local hamfests?

I had to call Glen last week, don't know why.  When he returned the call his first words were:  "hey Rick, what can I do for you."  Just like Glen.  I told him I just wanted to hear his voice.  From the winter when the lights went out at Christmas, bought a generator from Glen, to the radio I use everyday, I have much to be thankful for and reminded of Glen Fields.  73 all ..ko4op

KR4DX Clyde. We have been knowing one another pert near 30 years now. I as well as many on 3.938 and other frequencies will sorely miss your spirited humor that kept the frequency alive. An honest and civil man who loved Amateur radio and his family not in that order but I admired you, Glen RIP my dear Friend. May god welcome you into his peace yet unknown.

Ed KG4W: Well Glen, after 40 yrs of friendship "for now", we say 73's. Glen was one of the most knowledgeable people I've known. Not only about radio, but many other things as well. Regardless, if you wanted to know how to build an amp or how to do taxes, he could help. Can hear him now (on 3938) saying "ye doggies" or "good morning" or "to never no-mind". I met Glen through amateur radio. Glen was one of those larger than life individuals. He had a great ability to share his rewarding life experiences, vast knowledge, humor and wit.  It is to my benefit, to have met and known Glen Fields. I am grateful for that experience.  He set examples, that many should follow.  RIP in Glen, you will be missed. I pray we meet again.  73 Jim AB4D

The first time I ran into Glenn was on 3938. I was fascinated by his quick wit, so I broke in. The first thing he did was to try to drive me off the frequency. But I stood up to him and that’s what he wanted to hear. He wasn’t trying to be mean. He, like many military men of his generation wanted to know what the people around him were made of. He didn’t have time for people who wouldn’t have his 6. Sure, Glen was over the top on occasions, but you never had to guess at what he was thinking. Glen was a real American; typical of his generation and unfortunately not so typical of today. He will be sorely missed by me and all who enjoyed his rough edge charm. America misses men like him; tough, honest and faithful to his family and friends. The twilight of America is hastened by his passing.

I first want to express my deepest sympathies to Skippy and the entire Fields family. Glen was the strong patriarch of the family and the one that could be counted upon to help resolve any issue, major or minor. His passing will be forever missed, but his sage advice, common sense, and life experiences will continue to guide your decisions and paths going forward.  Glen was a dear friend of mine and will be sorely missed. He was an honorable man, a patriot, a helper to the less fortunate, a source of advice, and a man who always stood by his friends. 3938 will go on, but missing that biting wit that we all enjoyed. 73 my friend!  Reid Hagan W2HU

My deepest condolences to the entire family. I knew Glen from listening to 3.938Mhz going back to 2003 as a SWL. From 2008 on I would email Glen during QSO's and he would relay my messages to the group. In 2010 I did get my license and the few times I talked to Glen he helped me out with issues ranging from audio to power out. Very pleasant and knowledgeable man. 73, Rudy KR3OC

Death is a thief. It takes and keeps all that
a person is, the person was. And when
death takes from us someone as
extraordinary as my Grandpa, it takes who
he was to us every day.
No longer will we be greeted by him as we
walk into the house fiddling with his
radios.  No longer will we hear his jokes -
sometimes for the third, forth or fifteenth
times- or smell that sweet pipe tobacco.
Grandpa, all of us here today have
embraced you, and we love you. We will
protect the wife and children that you
leave behind, and ensure that we, your
grandchildren, instill in our children the
same values that you have instilled in us.
We will not only ensure that your legacy
lives on but we will carry on the name that
was so graciously bestowed upon us, the
Fields name, with dignity, respect, and
honor.
We will greet every new day as a gift,
approaching it with the same bravery and
determination with which you lived your
entire life.

I met glen about 20 years ago at surrounding hamfest. I found out he was a very generous and big hearted person. On the radio he was very interesting and very entertaining. He will be missed by a lot of people including hams over the years. W4dog nickname dog Larry Kirby
