Dear Merrill family, I am so terribly saddened to hear of the passing of my friend and former client. Though I was merely his hairstylist, he was more than just a client to me.
He was my friend, one who always made me feel seen and heard, and special. I bet he made everyone feel that way.

I had written him a birthday email today, not knowing that he had passed. I included a question about the Sea Onion that he had given me years ago. It had recently ceased thriving... what a strange irony!
He will be so missed.

It's been many years since I was privileged enough to have Ed Merrill as my college advisor. He was so patient and kind. I'm very sad to hear of his passing.
