Among our Annapolis classmates, Ed stood out not only as a distinguished naval officer and engineer but, in the words of John Paul Jones that we learned as plebes, as "a gentleman of punctillous courtesy." It was an honor to be his classmate and a privlege to call him friend.

A wonderful friend, fellow Californian, and my roommate for all four years at the Naval Academy.  At times like this, I like believe that he is busy exploring his new environment, and we shall all meet up with him again someday.  His Spirit Lives!  God Bless him and all those he has left behind.  John Russell - 24
