Dr. Thompson you will be missed, but never forgotten! Thank you for helping me pave my educational pathway to becoming a successful teacher and life long learner.

Herb left us too soon. He brought a poetic spirit to the world, and taught his students to think critically - to imagine things outside the box. Herb was a good teacher and a good friend, and we will miss him.
Dr Thompson was a wonderful person. He was very special to many Emory and Henry students and especially to me. He paved the way for many many wonderful teachers and will always hold a special place in my heart.
Kay B. Richardson (BA 1986 E&H)
Herb Thompson served as my mentor for most of the past 10 years, sharing his wisdom, insight, and passion for teacher education and teachers. Herb always remind me of how thankful we should be and how "truly blessed we are to get to live a life of the mind." I will miss him profoundly.

Dr. Thompson took "The Nine", under his wing and molded all of us late-blooming, non-traditional, commuter, wives and mothers into better teachers than we believed possible. He was our advisor, mentor, confessor, and our friend. He saw our individual talents and always believed in us. Sherry Case (BA 1996 E&H)
I was fortunate to have known and been a friend to Herb. He was a remarkable person and a true "cowboy poet". I am sorry to hear of his passing and will miss his cheerful presence.
