Ed was such a lovely person.  Always a smile and something positive to say.  He will be missed.

Ed. Chris, Mathew and Rebecca will always have the fondest of places in our family’s heart. Ed was so friendly, welcoming and energetic when we were all at Carmel River School and it was a gift to know him and work with him on the PTO. He and Rebecca were incredible running partners to my daughter Emily. We have lots of wonderful memories.

I first met Ed when we served on the 2005 Grand Jury. We were never in sync on national political issues, but we sure could work together well on local matters. Ed was a delight to work with. His humor and good nature got us through many a controversy.  Many members continued to meet well after our term was up. I miss those meetings and my friendship with Ed. Chris - be well,

I met Ed when I moved to Carmel right across from him and Chris.
He was always taking beautiful care of the garden, and we would chat while we both worked at our yards. We also worked out at the same gym at CVAC. Such a nice couple.

He was a very sweet man. I would see him at church and we would talk about our kids. All the years of our kids were in rehearsals and shows together we had no time for chats as we were running crazy to get them everywhere. Then suddenly they were in college and this peaceful time came where we could share a moment about them and our lives. God Bless your family now with comfort and peace.

Ed let me live at his house in Carmel Valley the summer of 1979, when I had no place to go.  Not only that, he let me stay there for years during the Monterey Historics (the car events every August).  When I got married, he insisted on a complimentary stay at his lodge in Sequoia/Kings Canyon.  He had a PhD in physics, so he really WAS a rocket scientist!  May his memory be for a blessing.

We will always remember Ed's warm and caring smile. He had so much energy and was very devoted to his family. When our son ran XC and track with Matthew and Rebecca, Ed volunteered many hours helping the CHS running teams. He was very dedicated to running and fitness. May happy memories of Ed help ease the sorrow for Chris, Matthew, Rebecca and the entire family.

May all your wonderful family memories sustain you through this time Chris, Matthew and Rebecca. I will always remember Ed's infectious smile and wit. Know much love and many prayers are being sent your way.

I knew Ed to be a wonderful husband to my sister, and a great role model and father to his children. I take comfort in knowing that he touched the lives around him for the better, and that he and his memory will continue on in his children and loved ones. His was a life well-lived. Sending much love to his family and friends at this difficult time.

Ed was always an impressive presence over the years we knew him - especially his brilliant engineering life, which has obviously passed on to his next generation.  Although we spent only a little time in Carmel with Chris & Ed, we especially have fond memories of one of our best breakfasts ever with Ed at the Wagon Wheel in Carmel, followed by a proud trip to his neighborhood health club.
