Jesse O was part of our lives for so many years and we will miss him so much.  First and foremost Jesse was our friend, but he was also our undergraduate and graduate student, our colleague in the lab, our companion on many adventures in the wilderness, our son’s graduate advisor, and our inspiration.  We love you Jesse - your spirit will always be with us. --Rick, Kris, Jessie, and Max

I was Jesse’s lab partner at the summer Neurobiology class at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA in 1985.  He impressed me then as he had already had a remarkable life, and we’d meet up at scientific meetings over the next decade or two.  I was contemplating a trip to Alaska and wanted his advice, and was shocked to find this obituary, especially as he was always so alive.
