Dolores “Dee” Rose Stoering Rauch, 90, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2019. Prior to her recent hip surgery, she had resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Walnut Creek, California.
Dee was born March 28, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Gustav and Agnes Stoering, with one sister. Dee pursued her doctorate in psychology. She married Ewing Henry “Hank” Rauch, Jr. (deceased) at 19 years old and was married over 50 years, having two children. They lived in Belmont, San Mateo, and Walnut Creek, CA. She and her husband retired in Alameda, CA, where they lived for many years. Dee was an avid tennis player and coach, enjoyed trips to Hawaii, and was active in her church and choir.
Dee is survived by her sister (Grace Rheme), her son and daughter-in-law (Scott and Judith Rauch), her daughter and son-in-law (Linda and Dennis Alumbaugh), her 7 grandchildren, and her 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial reception will be hosted by her family after 10:00 AM services, on Sunday September 15, 2019, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Alameda, 1420 Lafayette Street, Alameda, CA.
We'd love to hear from her family and friends if you have any stories to share. I will always have fond memories of my Grandma Dee's love of cats. They were terribly spoiled, over-weight, and oh-so-loved. It was also fun to go there for Thanksgiving each year and run around their condo and see the ducks by their pond and pool.
When I think of Grandma Dee, I can practically smell bacon cooking. She would visit us from California to Pennsylvania and make BLTs for the week. I will never eat a BLT and not think of her. The smell of coconut from her tanning lotion after time on the tennis court. Her laughing so hard at her own jokes that we couldn't even tell what the joke was. Neverending photos of her beloved cats.
