Dexter R. Kemp Jr., known to many as "Ted", passed away on April 8, 2019. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jesse DeHaven Kemp and Dexter R. Kemp Sr, and his sister Mary (Kemp) Hickey.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice Kilby Kemp; his son Myron Kemp, daughter-in-law Jeni Kemp and grandson Ashton Kemp who loved him very much. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He proudly served four years in the Coast Guard and four years in the Air Force. He has always been a proud member of the Corinthian Masonic Lodge of Norfolk, VA. He as always enjoyed the outdoors, growing up climbing cherry trees as a boy in Carol County, Virginia, and later grilling out and working on his rose and azalea bushes. He also loved playing card games, board games and telling "dad" jokes.
So many good memories.
I will always appreciate how steady Ted's advice and support any time I contacted him, he was a class act. And such a great sense of humor and love for his family. I will truly miss him.
