Derinda was one of the kindest women I ever encountered, and she was a dear friend when I desperately needed one. I have many, many cherished memories, too many to recount, my big regret is that as our children grew up and our careers became hectic, that I didn't hold on harder and I never thought that the last time I saw her would be the last opportunity to thank her for her friendship.
