I shall always consider Dave my greatest friend. He was a person with the most unique personality. His relations with others was always positive. He loved his family. He cared about his neighbors. He helped people. His heart always had love for everyone. He was the embodiment of joy and charity. I am lonely without him.
I did not see Dave much in the 8 years I have known Patty. His lasting beautiful memory of him is from the last time I saw him at the 50th wedding anniversary party. Dave shared his heartfelt feelings for his beloved wife Patty and his family. There was not a dry eye during his talk. I am so sad he has left us, but will not be forgotten.
Dave is gone, and I am still in disbelief. My memories of him is that if a caring, honest, and witty man, who cared for his family and his community. He has touched this world and made a difference. He is missed.
I first met Dave 3.5 years ago when I joined the UUFS choir and sung tenor alongside him since. To avoid name confusion, we decided he would be Dave#1 and I would be Dave#2. I loved his humor - he would crack me up with very clever puns! Dave's love of low-power ham-radio (called QRP) brought me back into the hobby that I'd all but left behind years ago. 72 Dave SK de AD6A
Dave was a friend to all he knew. He would give selflessly to all. My most meaningful memory was his stepping in to help me with a business decision I was trying to make. Dave reached out to offer his help and guidance, but he began a discussion with me to make sure I was even asking the correct questions. In fact, he decided I was not… Dave will forever live in my heart and memories.
Some years ago Nina proposed that Dave and I collaborate on a service for Memorial Day. I was so fortunate to get to work with him. His insight, humility and generosity of spirit touched and educated me. His work with the youth of our congregation leaves a legacy. He was witty, caring and made himself available for the tough stuff as well as the fun.
I am sorry Dave is gone. He impressed me with his many gifts, talents, grace and humor at UUFS. Dave was also giving in helping Loren and me prepare for our dream journey. From advising Loren in how to make his resignation decisions, to providing tips and tools for our van, and, most generously lending me his car for what seems like two months! He touched so many and will be sorely missed.
Dave was always generous of both his time and knowledge for friends, neighbors -- really anyone who asked for help. And usually with some quip to make us laugh. We at UUSF will be hard pressed to replace the brightness he brought us all.
Dave's passing is so shocking still. He was so full of humor and love for life and those around him. I'm grateful for having had the pleasure of getting to know him during the stories group sessions we had a few years ago. Dave was an excellent writer and always found a way of pulling the emotions out of you with any story he shared. His sense of humor was just as perfect as can be.
I was enormously sad to hear about Dave. He and Steve B rescued me several times when my clients were misbehaving in press meetings and needed a professional "smack" :-) Dave's pointed interview style was both fun to watch and also critical in helping these execs improve. He was a super smart, dear, and above all, genuine man. :-(
