I miss you so much. Although we had our ups and downs like everyone else we made it. Almost 58 years. 58 years on July 4, 1963 I met you. July 11, 1963 I asked you to marry me...and you said yes.
October 11, 1963 we married. These years were the best years of my life. I love you always and forever Dave. Wouldn't change them a bit.
Thanks for your friendship and support over many years.
Dave will be greatly missed and by many but not forgotten.
Terry. My sincere condolences on your loss. I will never forget the long talks Dave and I had about horses and his farm days. He was always a great supporter of you and Exchange. He will be missed by all in the New England District. May God bless him and his entire family. Buffalo Bob Harb-Past National Exchange Club President.
Terry, we in the Exchange Club of Greater Newburyport are so sorry for your loss. We remember with appreciation your visits with Dave to our Installations and Fields of Honor. The Exchange family is lesser with his passing.

Dave was a character and fun to be with at the Exchange Club conventions. That man loved you, Terry You could see it in his eyes.He was so supportive of or Exchange endeavors. Dave and I played Pitchnut (caroms) in Portland with the couple from Auburn, Maine. The was a fun night. He had a great laugh, too.
Dave will be missed for sure.
Terry, the Methuen Exchange Club would like to offer our sympathy on the passing of your husband Dave. When you were the District President of the NE District Exchange Clubs and made your rounds to each club that’s when we met Dave. He was a funny man who was very involved in all aspects of the XC’s principals and mission. May he Rest In Peace.
Mother T,
Please allow us to share our sincere sympathy on the loss of Dave. We so enjoyed our visits with you both on your visits to Florida.
In our thoughts and prayers,
Ron and Robin Garriga
Dave, Dad, Grampa, Great Grampa, Brother, Friend or Neighbor –
No matter what you called him, we can all agree that “Dave” was “Who He Was”. Some people loved him; some people hated him; but that didn’t matter to Dave; he “was who he was” and was not going to change that, he always wanted to be right even when he knows he was wrong; but no way would he ever admit it.
He loved his wife, children, but loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren even more. He enjoyed giving them rides on his big green tractor and making them work for that dollar. He was more caring than what most people thought, including myself.
Aside from his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he most importantly loved to spend time with his life-long neighbor and best friend, Uncle Jim (James Farquhar). I remember when my son Sean was 2 years old; he would see Uncle Jim pull into his driveway after work, and he would go running “2 beers – 2 beers” and bring 2 beers to Grampy. You see, my mother had two husbands, not just one; she had my father Dave and my Uncle Jim. Uncle Jim passed away on September 8, 2020; from that day on, my father was not the same, he lost his best friend of over 50 years. Soon thereafter, he and my mother decided they would move to Florida to a) make-up lost time with his sister Debbie and (b) grow old someplace warmer than New England as most New Englanders do when they get older.
Shortly after their move to Florida, my fathers’ health started to decline even more and was soon put on hospice. It wasn’t very long thereafter that my father, David Rivard, Sr. passed away on June 23, 2021.
Rest In Pease Dad, please watch over my mother and help her be strong. On your way to wherever you end up, please give Johnathon a big hug and tell him I love him, and Steven misses him so much, and when you get to where you are going, give Grampy, Uncle Jim and Uncle Ronnie a big hug and tell them I miss them. Salute… Two Beers and a Shot. I Love You Dad!
The last time I saw Dave, I was walking along the sidewalk in downtown Leominster and a car honked at me. I heard a big booming voice say "Hey Ralph!". It was Dave. Starting as a customer of the bank where I worked, he and his loving wife Terry ended up joining the Exchange Club and we had many good times together. I won't forget Dave, he was totally honest and non pretentious. God Bless.
Terry, I am sorry you lost your life partner David May he Rest In Peace in the kingdom of God. You, take care of yourself.
Sincerely, the Largey’s
Rest in heavenly peace Uncle Dave. I will miss your laughter.
There are so many emotions I’m filled with when I think of my brother Dave. I’m so grateful for being able to spend the last six months being a close part of his life. I’m sad that we didn’t have more time. I’ll be honest, it was difficult watching this bigger than life man waste away as his body failed him and kept him in so much pain.
Dave an I were the only two souls left of the original Rivard family that lived “on the hill”. A part of me feels very alone now in some respect. It’s only appropriate to mention “the hill” because it was such a huge part of my brother’s life. He lived most of his life on that hill! He and Terry raised their family there and Dave loved tending to the house our father built, and especially the land on which it sat. I only recently learned that he was known as “the mayor of Hill Street”, because people went to him if they wanted something to be taken care of. I got such a kick out of hearing that! I can only imagine how hard it was for him to leave it behind. But, it was left in good hands, it was left in family’s hands. I’m so happy about that, and I know Dad would be, as well. He knew the time had come when he could no longer take care of things and more importantly, he didn’t want to leave this life without making sure Terry was safe and secure, where she could live comfortably. In retrospect, my brother left me with a sister.
Dave may have had a rough exterior, but his heart was as soft as anyone’s I’ve ever known. He could make you angry one minute, and melt your heart the next. His love for his family was fierce, and he didn’t want leave us, but it was his time.
As it states in Ecclesiastes, there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.
As he ended every phone call we’ve ever had, I’ll end with this….
I love you
Happy Birthdays Dad! I hope Tammy, Uncle Jim, Grampy and everyone else is partying it up in celebration of your special day. Although we didn’t always , or should I say, never saw eye-to-eye, but want you to know that I Love You. Enjoy the special day and give my sister the hugest hug for me. Love you Dad !
Happy Birthday dear. I miss you so much. So many things have changed without you. I've learned to make repairs. To lay sod where there was no grass. To plant where there was nothing. I have flowers all around the fence, I've learned to do a lot on my own. but I would rather have had you here to help. Life just isn't the same anymore. I miss you so much, but words can't express the way I feel, I love you Dave and always will. Always and Forever.
