Claire was articulate and passionate about teaching to all of her students. Not just concerned with academics, Claire worked to help develop her students' artistic and poetic side. Her classroom contained rich and lively academic discussion yet was a warm and safe place for students to risk and grow. I worked with her for over 17 years and will miss her more than I can ever say. God Bless.

Claire was my son's teacher.  Her classroom was always lively and filled with children who were excited to be there.  She was always calm and joyful.  I loved watching her work with each child at their own level.  Her memory will live on in all the children she taught.

Both of my girls had Claire for 4th grade. Even though my girls are very different, Claire made learning fun for both of them. They remember the bowl she used to hit and it would make a sound and you had to listen real hard until you did not hear it anymore. We will miss Claire, she was a well loved teacher.

I went to High School with Claire and am so sad to hear of her passing.  In High School she was so beautiful, smart and popular and nice to just everyone.  She went to the same church as my best friend and we always talked about the news of the church happenings.  I know she was a wonderful Mother and a wonderful friend and I am truly so sorry to learn of her passing. During the five years I worked at Morello Park as a technology specialist Claire was patient, kind and always grateful for my tech support. She also taught both of my daughters and was one of their favorite teachers. She inspired children to be curious, enthusiastic and creative learners. My deepest condolences to Claire's children, grandchildren, extended family and many friends.XOXOXO

I knew Claire through her brother, John Gustafson. Claire served us an unforgettable dinner of scallops on the half shell in the late 1970s. Claire was a gracious lovely woman whom I will never forget.
If anyone reading this can help me find John Gustafson, I would be very appreciative.
