This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Carrie Duarte, 40, born on July 27th, 1981 and passed away on October 2nd, 2021. We will remember her forever.

Carrie Lee Duarte (Smedley) went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021. While her passing was an unexpected and heartbreaking shock to her family and friends, they take comfort knowing that she has found rest in the presence of her Savior.

Carrie was born on July 27th, 1981 in Walnut Creek, CA. She grew up in Pleasant Hill, CA, graduating from College Park High School. Carrie was a hard worker from a young age. Carrie was continuously drawn to help others. She worked as a CNA and also earned her LVN license from Gurnick Academy. Carrie compassionately served many people and their families in times of great need by providing elder care and hospice care. Carrie was part of the church family at Oak Park Christian Center in Pleasant Hill, CA, and was serving as a member of the office staff at the time of her passing.

Carrie loved her family and took great joy in giving. Her laugh was infectious. She loved shopping, singing and being silly.

Carrie is survived by her parents, Dan and Kathy Smedley, her grandmother, Marion Feugate, her great-aunt Barbara Lee Redding, her siblings, Amy Smedley, Emily Clark (Kevan), Zac Smedley (Allison), Rebecca Johnson (Gary), and Megan Weller (Mark), and her uncle Frank Smedley. She is survived by Steve Duarte. She enjoyed being an aunt to her nieces and nephews, William and Russell Johnson, Sarah, Travis and Lily Clark, and Ethan, Elijah, Charlotte, and Marigold Smedley. She is also survived by many cousins and a loving, supportive church family who loved Carrie as their own.

There will be a celebration of life followed by a graveside service at 11 am on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at Oak Park Christian Center in Pleasant Hill, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carrie’s honor to Visions of Hope, a benevolence fund provided by Oak Park Christian Center, or to Safe Harbor Homes and Services, a ministry for adults with special needs. https://www.opccag.org/give/  https://safeharborhas.org/

Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18
