I was one of the many students at Carol Jean's dance studio, back in the late 60's/early 70's. I remember how much I loved it and her warmth. She once said that her students were her and her husband's "children". I am so grateful for the love of dance and performing which was a gift she gave me and so many others, which persists to this day. She is leading dance classes for angels now.
It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our dear Carol Jean. We have wonderful memories of many happy times we spent with Carol and Dick, and send Dick our deepest sympathy.....
My wife Dodie and both of our daughters all danced at Carol Jeans. We went to all of the shows, VA hospital, fairgrounds, retirement homes, etc. I used to build the boxes for my girls to dance on and I would roll out the black rubber mats for their acrobatic routines. I still have videos, and still photos from a lot of the shows. She and Dick were icons of the community.
I started dancing with Carol Jean when I was 2 years old. I started assisting her with classes at age 10. Going to dance conventions over the years with her in San Mateo at the Villa Hotel. She came by our house to celebrate birthdays, graduations and weddings. Always loving her favorite champagne. She taught me not only dance, but teamwork and compassion for others.
