This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Bettye Gilbert, 74, born on May 29th, 1941 and passed away on October 15th, 2015. We will remember her forever.
I could tell endless stories and anecdotes about mom. She loved deeply and passionately, and there was nothing false in her. Those who knew her will never forget her gentle spirit, patience and longsuffering, her easy laugh, her love for Jesus— and I’ll venture to say they feel blessed having known her. She was not only the best mother I could ever imagine, but also my best friend.
I miss you everyday. I can clearly imagine your smile as you sit on the big front porch of your home in heaven, having coffee with one of the disciples, maybe the Apostle Paul, Peter, John. Possibly Jesus has stopped by to take a walk with you through your garden and He smiles as you pause to take in the scent of the lilacs you planted there...
PS. And yes, I will go visit your grave today and I will cry, like it or not.
You were right about so many things. I know you always wanted to hear that!
Dear Granny,
I miss you more than ever. I'm about to graduate from college (!) and I wish you were here for me to turn to when I'm confused, uncertain, and in search of comfort. You always pushed me to seek God with my whole heart. Thank you for all the love you poured into my life.
Dear Mom,
It has been nearly 5 years since you went to be with your beloved Jesus! I miss your beauty & your smile. I miss us being silly together, our inside jokes, and the way you rolled your eyes when we kids were too much! I know you are sitting on your porch swing, in front of your little house, with all our pets, waiting for all of us!
1 Corinthians 2:9 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him."
Would have been your 80th today! We miss you...and know that you're joyful celebrating your birthday in heaven surrounded by love and music.
"But may the righteous be glad
and rejoice before God;
may they be happy and joyful." Psalm 68:3
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2
Miss you so much!
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Mom! Miss you always.
Dear mom,
Thank you so much for your legacy of love for us and of love for Christ. I miss you so much and can't wait to see you again in heaven. I think of you and remember your example of loving Jesus with all of your heart, soul and mind. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
Dear Mom, I have bee remembering all the special things we used to do together to celebrate your birthday - lunch at Green Pastures, driving through Hyde Park to pick out your favorite pastel house, & shopping at Breed & Co. I am so grateful for all of the time we had together! I miss you!
