Bart was a wonderful colleague and friend and will be missed dearly.
While a PhD student, Bart hosted me for a seminar I gave at Carnegie. I was delighted he came to my lab for his postdoc, and had the pleasure to mentor him at U of Chicago. Bart had a clear knack for research and could have made great discoveries. He chose patent law and soared there instead. My lab always appreciated his brilliance, warmth and friendliness. We'll miss him.
Bart made tremendous positive impact on my life. He was my closest friend and co-worker in Chicago. I will always remember his positive attitude to life, love for pop music and great jokes.
I just found out and this hit me hard. Bart was my college roommate at Kansas. I shared his enjoyment of music, basketball and life in general. The last time I saw him was when he was a groomsman at my wedding. I wish we had done a better job of keeping in touch. He made a big impact on my life and helped me get through college.
